Just purchased the DLX-III. I've done a week's worth of workouts and my wife has joined me as of the last of the workouts. I own a Total Gym 1000 and this purchase was an upgrade. The DLX-III resolves several of my complaints with the old Total Gym that were hindrances to my using it consistently.
The first improvement is that the DLX-III is EASY to setup and break down for storage. With the handle in the middle I have no concerns of pinching or hurting myself in the process. I am 6' 3" so if you're smaller you might have more struggles but for me it's a complete snap, takes about a minute or less and I'm done. Many times I thought about setting up the Total Gym and passed because it was a pain. No more!
The larger glide board on the DLX-III actually fits me! It's comfortable and easy to use. I barely fit on the old Total Gym and was constantly adjusting.
It's really easy to move from pulleys to no pulleys and to adjust levels. Working out with my wife and adjusting difficulty was a snap. No pain at all.
The bump noise in travel mentioned by others is nothing on mine. Much smoother and quieter than old Total Gym.
The first video is dated but gives you good info.
The second video with a workout is great and what I'm using to start. It walks you through all the exercises and gives encouragement. I like it and see myself using this for at least the first few months until I get in better shape. This workout definitely gives me a challenge though admittedly I am out of shape.
As mentioned by others there are a few pieces of equipment not mentioned on the video or in the book. None are needed for the initial workout in the video so I'm just not worrying about them right now. Figure I'll call if nothing else. I know there's a video on YouTube explaining the bench press bar but haven't looked for the others.
All in all after a week and a half or so I am exercising at the rate of 3 sessions a week and happy with the purchase.

Item arrived right on schedule. Easy setup. Truly is a total workout. My model came loaded with attachments for a great workout. Also comes with several workout routines to keep your workouts exciting. I Love this trainer. Very happy with my purchase. Chose this trainer, you will not regret it.

I spent a lot of time researching the Total Gym, Vigorfit, and Bayou Fitness roller gyms and finally opted for the Total Trainer DLX III because it seemed to offer the best combination of quality and price.
At large I would say that I was not disappointed. It came solidly packaged in just 4 days and was very easy to set up. All of the accessories are also very well-made and should last for years to come. I've been working out on the Total Trainer now for about 2 weeks every day and can feel my body getting stronger with each use.
One of my goals is to strengthen my right knee after scope surgery a few months ago. The range of movement in my knee has already improved after a few weeks. The incline is also kicking my butt at level 8, without any additional weights which are very easy to add. And at age 63, I don't anticipate outgrowing the machine at all.
I am very happy with the DLX III.
One minor issue I would like to address is the noticeable 'bump' when the cushion rollers travel across the seam where the frame connects once it's unfolded for use. I've inspected both the rollers and the seam and they appear to be a little bit rough. I would definitely be interested in upgrading the rollers if that would lessen the noise and reduce the 'bump' during exercise.
Otherwise, this is a solidly built machine and I would recommend it.
However, I may opt for the

My old gym used to offer a class called GRAVITY on some $10,000 glide board machine and I loved the workout but knew I could never afford to purchase one. Now, as a busier 40 year old, I needed to find something that I would ENJOY doing at home. Standing in my living room doing squats and bicep curls with free weights just isn't enjoyable. Fitness has always been a part of my life as I used to teach a resistance training class but I've completely abandoned resistance training as I'd rather take part in a Zumba class. Yet, my body is not getting the workout it needs with just cardio.
So, I decided to purchase A TOTAL TRAINER DLX-III. And, like all the other reviews (check them out on Amazon as well), I was so impressed with the quality of the machine and all its fun versatile parts. I've only had it for a week and am slowly introducing new exercises, but I can feel the perfectly challenging FULL BODY workout I am getting and will continue getting from the fun machine.
Like others mentioned, this is so safe and really helps protect correct form. I have lost so much strength and can see how this machine will GRADUALLY and SAFELY get my body strong again.
I was concerned that nylon ropes wouldn't be strong enough either, but they are smooth and strong. I am a petite female.
I'm only five feet tall and I can easily unfold and fold the machine by my small self. I'm not in extremely fantastic shape either. It is rather long so make sure you have the room. But, it truly folds in seconds and is rolled into my closet. I FREAKIN LOVE IT!!!!!
The bump people talk of is present but it's not intrusive to the fluidity of the exercises for me anyway. I was weary reading that in the reviews, but it doesn't bother me at all. Hooray!
There are some pieces that have no explaining of their use. So, you have to look online at how to use or attach. Just open her up and start slow. As I keep getting on the machine, I learn and see new things rather than trying to do every exercise right away.
And, yes the instructional material is a bit outdated, but form and technique is timeless so just try to not look at her g-string leotard!!!! Haha

I absolutely love this system! Despite the fact that the instructions didn't mention several of the attachments so I still don't know where they go or what to do with them. Also, the instructional material (DVDs) are outdated, and incomplete. The system itself, however, is awesome and I use it 3 times every week!

I was using the weider ultimate body work, when i was on the web searching for some attachments for it (it only come with the pull-up bar and squat stand) when I came across the Bayou total trainer on ebay, before of which I had never heard of it.
So instead of buying attachment for the weider home gym, I went to the Bayou.com web site and purchase this total trainer for about the same price as the weider home gym, but come with all the attachments I had been looking for. The glide board glide make less noise than the weider. There is a bumping noise on this bayou trainer where the incline rail fold up, But that a small issue. So Bayou get a Thumb-up from me... It really is the most complete home gym on the market, trust me. Charles

First off, I am a big guy.. 6'2" 320#... too big which is why I purchased it...lol The build quality exceeded my expectations, handles my girth without issue... For a bedroom size space, you can achieve a complete and well rounded work-out, build routines that will target every muscle group, and most importantly exercise safely without fear of damaging joints... Well made, substantial, and effective... I have read reviews that discuss the rope vs. cable issue, and it is not an issue, the rope is safer, and is easily replaced... Second comment read is about the bump in the track... It is barely noticeable, and you only faintly notice it on <25% of the exercises... if you ensure the lock is correctly seated and tightened, no worries... DLX II is better built than its competitor, better price than the competitor, no sales tax, and no shipping, which by the way was delivered via FedEx in 5 days from order (to CA)...

I bought the Bayou Fitness DLX 3 Total Fitness Machine. DLX 3 is a quality built machine -much sturdy, exta long glide board, thick cushion, and 11 resistance levels. The machine operates smooth and quiet. Glide board wheels are rubber and have high quality bearings in them. Pullys are sailboat quality as are the ropes. Chrome finish looks great in my fitness room. The accessories are many and are also high quality. This unit provides easy convenient accommodations for leg exercises and for doing sit -ups. There are accommodations for doing square as well. This machine is great for getting in shape as well as to stay in shape. I like the fact that you can add free weight plates to the glide board to increase resistance. This machine has more accessories and thus different exercises available to you, than you could possibly do in a workout routine.
The only areas of concern I have found are: the tower hub is made of plastic. It seems very durable - but only time will tell if it will hold up. Second, whenever the wheels on the slide board roll across the joint where the rails are hinged, there is a distinctive thump. Probably not a problem since the exercises all keep the wheel off of that joint during the full range of the exercises. And last - the ropes seem a little too long. This is in comparison to my Total Gym 1500. The DLX3 is a far better machine IMHO than the total gym. Get the Bayou Fitness DLX 3 and get fit today.
All prices are in USD.
