  1. Perfect if it had a few minor tweaks 4 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Nov 2017

I love the Total Trainer Power Pro Home Gym with a few exceptions. The gym arrived packaged very well and there was no damage. Set-up was easy and overall I am pleased with the performance of the gym as it seems to be built of quality material and construction as well as being sturdy during use. I've been using my Total Trainer for approximately two months with no issues on performance. I do wish it had a few minor design tweaks as well as better exercise descriptions and / or a more complete DVD with varying routines. Here are some changes I would like to see: 1. The padded ankle supports when doing incline crunches or utilizing the foot rests do get in the way when performing other exercises such as seated rows, etc. It would be great if these were removable so that you could get a full range of motion on other exercises. 2. Similarly with the free weight attachment bars, although they are removable, the tubes on either side where you insert the bars project beyond the glide pad and have caused some interference when performing other exercises (although not as much as the ankle supports noted above). Other manufacturers provide reinforced holes in the frame with a single solid bar that slides through and weight clams for either end which would solve this problem. 3. The DVD is very elementary in showing varying exercises or routines, and my DVD won't even play all of them. Additionally the instruction booklet is pretty basic as well. I've resorted to purchasing a competitor's DVD programs on ebay or amazon in order to better understand what exercises are available and how to perform them correctly (correct form, sets, pace, positions, etc.).
All-in-all this is a well built product and I would purchase this again. I am definitely feeling and starting to see the results!

  2. Solid machine at a great price 4 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Nov 2017

Don't get me wrong, this gym is well designed and is a heavy-duty piece of equipment. I am giving the Total Trainer Power Pro four stars for a couple of reasons.

First, the foam pads, which are just below the foot platforms, have started to shred and tear. I've only used the equipment for 2 weeks and it's disappointing to know that the pads had to be covered with duct tape to keep them from tearing apart. I had a high-end Total Gym for about 15 years and the foam pads never fell apart, tore, or needed to be replaced.

Secondly, the foot platforms and foam pad heel supports makes performing hamstring curls frustrating. Regardless of how tightly you secure your feet to the platforms, they will inevitably slide out requiring a readjustment of the feet and re-positioning of the body on the glide board.

Aside from the above-mentioned complaints, this machine seems like it will serve me well for many years to come. It will take some time to acclimate to the different rope settings that are required for the range of exercised that are available, so if you purchase this machine, take your time with learning how the gym functions.

  3. A quality in-home gym made affordable! 5 Star Review

  5. Great Machine! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Sep 2015

I purchases the Total Trainer about a week ago in hopes it would solve some health issues that were preventing me from excersizing. I am 48 and a year ago I was in great shape. I was excersizing for 30 minutes a day doing an intense aerobic session my my elliptical machine which I loved. Suddenly i had developed a severe case of psoriasis on the bottoms of my feet and the palms of my hands. I no longer was able to put on sneakers never mind getting on my elliptical that i used for 30 minutes everyday. Compounding my problems, about six months ago, i slipped on the ice and broke my ankle. This led to a weight gain ofvabout 30 pounds in the last year in needed to find a way to build the muscle back up i had lost from becoming sedentary for the last 12 months. I thought this ,machine might be the solution since it would allow me to begin working out the muscles while not putting all of my weight on my feet.

I love it! It is fun to do and i am getting a good workout again. In just one week I am beginning to feel some of the energy i lost come back and now am looking forward to working out again. There is no doubt in my mind that with continual use and a healthy diet, I will loose the weight I gained and get back to feeling great. I am even hoping that it will lead me to be able to get back on the elliptical so I can enjoy the benefits of an intense cardio routine along with the strength training which i didn't do before. I think if I had done the strength straining before, it would have allowed me to have bounced back from my health issues quicker.

  6. Total Trainer Pro or Total Gym? 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Jun 2015

I've owned both. I can't see how the Total Gym is still around. Why i say this you ask. The Total Trainer Pro is an Amazing Home Gym. You get all the the extra accessories included. I weigh 250 lbs. When i get on it, absolutely nothing shakes or rattles. Amazing construction. What really got me, was the 4 way pulley system. I was amazed when i was able to do a bench press actually laying flat on my back. You can't do that on the Total Gym. Man i can write a story on how great this machine is. But to make it short, the Total Trainer Pro is the top of the line option... And it cost $700 less than the Total Gym and you get 12% more weight resistance. Let's NOT FORGET... the cost for all the extra accessories for the Total Gym. Do your Homework like i did and i know you will be buying the Trainer Pro. Be wise. Good luck to you all.

After months of research I finally decided to bite the bullet and order the total trainer. Product arrived earlier than scheduled set up was a breeze. What a great workout so many options on this machine hard to keep track of. Overall a great workout and a great product.
